Speak to Mr Carson

Monday 28 June

Good morning P2. I hope you all had a good weekend and are ready to take part in our Virtual Sports Day! Please practise the events before sending your scores. As many parents are back to work and posting work in the evenings, please send your final scores on one post and add to the Sports Day folder by 7pm. Good luck!!

Cranmore Virtual Sports Day 2020

As we won’t be back to school to have a real Sports Day, we are going to have our own Virtual Sports Day. It might not be like a normal Sports Day but it will definitely be great fun and we hope you all get involved.

Below is the information you will need to understand how it will work;

Our Virtual Sports Day will run on Monday 29th June.

There will be a certificate sent via SeeSaw for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each event, plus every child who participates will get a certificate too.

The four events you will compete in are as follows:

Rubbish Bin Basketball

  • Use a clean rubbish bin, bucket or a container similar in size.
  • Use a paper ball or small ball.
  • Stand 5 steps back from the bin.
  • How many times can you get the ball into the bin/bucket in 1 minute?
  • Record your score.

Wall Throws

  • Choose a ball you can hold comfortably; it can be any size you want.
  • Find a flat wall either inside or outside your house.
  • Stand 2 large steps back from the wall.
  • How many times can you throw the ball at the wall and catch it again in 1 minute?
  • If you drop the ball just pick it up again and keep going until the minute is up.
  • Record your score.

Standing Long Jump

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HiK4TUothQ

  • Find a large space that you can use to jump forward.
  • Watch the video to see your technique and how to jump properly.
  • Stand with both feet together and bend your knees.
  • Jump forward as far as you can and try not to fall backwards.
  • Ask someone to measure how far you’ve jumped.
  • You have 3 tries to jump far as possible.
  • Only send your biggest jump to your teacher, you don’t need to send all 3 attempts.

Star Jumps

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DQRGxPBgSs

  • Watch the video to see how to complete a star jump.
  • How many can you do in 1 minute?
  • Record your score.

Don’t forget to send your teacher your scores for each event so they can work out who got 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

I hope everyone has great fun taking part this week and that you send us lots of videos of you doing the different events throughout the week.

Numicon

P2 is great and one of the thing that makes it super is the collection of interactive learning tools we use. Like Numicon, who would have thought something so simple could be both helpful and fun!

Working with iPads

What a crazy world we live in that you can access almost everything you want through a little screen and a tap. As we all know with great power comes great responsibility. So we channel that power through learning and get amazing responses from our kids. Just have a look.

Learning through play

Play is amazing fun but and a great way of learning lots of new things! In P2  we carefully select and adapt our games to meet our kids expectations and needs. Don't believe us? Come and see.

Shared education project

A key part of learning is sharing and learning from the experiences of others. We got our friends from Old Warren to join us and share their own experiences. The more the merrier!

Halloween

Welcome to Spooky 2 in the scariest day of the year or at least that's how we want you to feel! Come and see if you dare what fear looks like. We also added a bit of magic too of course.
