Maths

Today’s activities will need to be saved in the ‘Maths Assessment’ folder. As this is an assessment it is important that this is completely each child’s own work, they can be given some support to help work answers out but not given any answers.

All activities are set on SeeSaw and can be completed either on SeeSaw itself, printed out and sent as a photo, or written in their workbook and sent as a photo.

Literacy

Today’s Literacy is also an assessment task and should be saved in the ‘Literacy assessment’ folder.

It’s a comprehension activity based mini beasts.

Circles group I would like you to complete pages 1 and 2.

Triangles and Squares I would like you to complete all 3 pages.

Afternoon Activity

You have lost of tricky work today and you will be working extremely hard, so for the rest of the afternoon I would like you to get outside and have some fun in the sun. You could try to play a coupe of the Tokyo Ten games outside or choose a fun game you usually play.

Make sure you log your activity on the Travel to Tokyo website to earn hours for your house.

Maths

Today is an interactive session to help you remember what we have learnt about fractions. Tomorrow you will be completing a fractions assessment activity, so it is very important you use your time today on the activities to help refresh your memory.

I have 2 videos for you to watch first:

  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO8pqe3-SI8 up to 4 minutes and 15 seconds will cover halves and quarters, pause the video here and look over the whiteboard on the screen to help you remind yourself  of what the teacher talked about, then watch the rest of the video.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hZkk73nJ_Y Watch this fun video on dividing pizza into a fraction.

Activities

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=Fractionsv7

Everyone, complete the following 2 activities on from the main menu:

  1. Half / not half
  2. Half / not a quarter (I think it’s meant to say quarter/not quarter)

https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/build-a-fraction/latest/build-a-fraction_en.html

We used this game on the interactive whiteboard in school.

  1. I would like everyone to start at level one on the shapes and work through the levels to see how far you can get.  You need to drag the shapes to the empty space and then drag them over to the right-hand side to match them with the fraction. Remember to count how many each shape is split up into and then count how many are coloured. Important rule: the top number of a fraction is how many are coloured, and the bottom number is how many pieces the shape has all together.
  2. Once you’ve gone as far as you can on the shapes levels I would like you to have a go at the numbers level 1 and work your way through the levels to see how far you can get. This time you are doing the opposite as before; drag the numbers to the spaces and then drag the whole fraction over to match the picture. Remember the rule from before.

Tokyo ten activity – Duster Dodge.

Read the instructions and don’t forget to log your activity on the Travel to Tokyo website.

Something to try at home :) Let us see you pictures if you try it!

String telephones!

During our topic work we designed our own string telephones in pairs using plastic cups and string. We spoke about how we can communicate using them and then we wrote up how we made them. The children thoroughly enjoyed this practical activity and similar activities to this will be completed throughout the year.
